300ex vs 400ex

are the 350x's faster than 400's?
i dont see how it could be, its an older and smaller displacement engine.
-on second thought maybe its not older, how long has the xr400 motor gone unchanged? But i think that the 350x is faster because its in a smaller lighter frame and when its put in a quad it would still need some minor mods to be faster than a 400

Ah i remember the old 400ex 300ex debates way back when. ntrx was right in order to get your 300 up and running above the 400ex youd need about two grand. The time, money and effort wouldnt be worth it. For what it is the 300ex is fast and in my humble opinion probably the best entry level quad but its not meant to be racing with the faster larger displacement atvs. Its sole purpose is for technical woods riding, begining-novice riders and fun. Give it a few years go out and buy whats new and hot on the market and you wont have any problems with the question you just asked.
400ex-65
300ex anywhere from 57-60
gaining a few miles per hour is deceptive..it takes a hell of alot more money then what you'd think

i've got a 300ex bored and stroked.. valves cam.. all the goodies inside.. trust me.. go for either the 400, 450r or the 350x .. don't waste your money.. it will take well over 2 grand to get it fast enough.. my buddy had a 352 stroker from powroll.. it was fast.. but it was also a lot of problems.. it threw starter clutches like they were nothing.. i think thats too much for the engine personally.. just start with like a 400 put some bolt ons on, maybe bore to get some torque .. re gear it and you'll be good to go

the rider on the 350X sucked then, because i rode a 350X and it'll rip a 400ex up, and yes the 350X's are faster than the 400's

hasnt happened yet, wont happen anytime soon....anyways Just remember, its a big investment and you want to do it right the first time. I made the mistake of buying the 300 but luckily was able to sell it pretty easily. Unfortunittly my friend had a 300ex and is most likely not gonna be able to get his Z for awhile and is pretty disapointed. I doubt youll buy a quad and be disapointed because it has to much power. For the same price I'd go with the Z over the 400ex when it comes to performance, then again i will admit Honda is reliable and thats more important to a lot of people. Either way youll have a blast on either the 400ex or the KFX. Even the 300ex is fun depending on the riders demands.
