Default Check Valve Clearance?

Just finished the initial maintenance on 2004 400ex but have left out checking the valve clearance. I didnt know if this was going to be a headache or not. I have basic-good mechanical knowledge but really just didnt feel like doing it. I am new to the ATV experience and was wondering if this is necessary at this stage of the quads life(about 4 tanks of gas). This is my 1st post please reply.

maybe not after 4 tanks,,,,,but soon

its easy to do if you have the right tools,,,,,and a guide to walk you thru it the 1st time

The hardest part is remembering where all the bolts go when you put everything back together. Checking valves is easy..it requires the "know-how" and "feel", not so much special tools.
