I have a 02 Recon it started spitting, sputtering and back firing at full throttle. At half throttle it runs fine. We got 8" of snow this weekend and it ran fine all weekend. Then Sunday afternoon it started acting up at anything over half throttle and with 8" of snow and 2wd you need more then half throttle. I put a new plug in and did not help. Any suggestions ??

 

You may be running lean because of the cold weather (cold air is more dense).

 

so what's the fix for that, moving the needle clip setting down a notch or 2 on the needle? the pilot screw adjustment is only for idle speed running isn't it??

 

I would say turn ------in---- the mixture screw on the bottom of the carb that would make it run richer not sure but i would guess thats what you would do. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img]

 

I doubt if it's the cold, or an adjustment. Granted, it'll have an effect, but not that drastic. You could have sucked something into the main jet, but it's more lkely an air problem. Check your airbox and filter for water\snow contamination.

 

I don't know, there are a lot of "I am out riding in the snow" posts on the board right now, and people are saying their bikes aren't running well????

 

check your air box for snow and moisture then change your plug it worked for me when i was plowing this weekend.
