Grizzly VS Rincon
#1
Hello Everyone
I plan on upgrading from my 1984 Honda 200m to a 02 or a 03 650 Rincon
But I have been having second thoughts lately about getting a Grizzly 660 instead
I can get a 2001-2003 Grizzly cheaper than a 02-03 Rincon
I am to familer with the Grizzly
I am with Hondas but not to much with Grizzlys
What are the ups and downs on the Grizzly and the Rincon?
Any common problem with them?
Is there anything better about the grizzly than the Rincon?
and Vice versa
I'd sure hate to cross over to a Yamaha 4 wheeler
But If they are basicly the same then I just might do it if I find a good deal
Or should I just stick with getting a Rincon?
What ever I get its going to get a two up seat for it also
how does the Rincon go with a 2up seat excuse me Tool box LOL
and How does the Grizzly go with a 2up seat on the back
Thanks
Daniel

Of the two, here is my view
The Grizzly is faster.
The Grizzly has a differential lock, the Rincon doesn't.
The Grizzly has low range, the Rincon doesn't.
The Grizzly is a little top heavy, the Rincon is more stable.
The Rincon has a better , more comfortable feeling ride.
The Grizzly is belt drive , the Rincon has gear drive.
The Grizzly has a bit more ground clearance.
The Rincon is a Honda and has good reputation backing it up.
Both quads have a smooth ride but the Rincon is better. If you plan on doing work you might be better with the Grizzly with its low range and diff. lock.
If you are just going to trail ride you might like the Smoother riding Rincon.
Both are great quads. Read as much as you can about each and try to take each for a test ride.
Good Luck!

I would have to agree with WolverineMan. I have a 03 Rincon and alot of my friends have the Grizzly's. they are 04's. As far as the ride I would say the Honda has a softer ride then the Yamaha but I have had it bottom out on the front end but never on the backend. M rincon always gets better fuel economy then my friends(If any one cares about economy on a quad). I wish it had low range and adjustable shocks. If you want IRS these would be my two picks but I also have a 04 vinson that is just as fast and has all the other options and is a little less expesive. My wife rides it and when riding two up it is more staple then my rincon. The ride isn't as nice in the extreme rocks or tree roots but it is close.

In my opinion the griz is faster has more power and is a better mudder and work machine, also has one of the best trannys, if not the best. The diff lock is awesome on this thing. The rincon just lacks something in the power dept.definetly has a smoother ride though. The adjustable shocks on the griz are nice , but it takes some getting use to the topheaviness. For the cost I would go for the griz, But I own one soooooooo! good luck!

Now back to the question, though i am a Honda man, i would pick the grizzly, all of the things WolverineMan15666 said, i pretty much feel the same way about both quads.

We live in Laurelville. We do most of our riding up at Marrienville and sometimes in Potter County. There aren't too many legal places to ride around here. I'm not into running from the cops. We use to ride out at Sony a little. Our family usually makes a few trips to Marrienville. Me, the wife, daughter, step-son, brother-in-law, niece , her husband and son. We have a good time when we go.

I would favor the Grizzly because of what the others have already told you (the low range and the diff lock come in handy sometimes). Yamaha's belt drive is one of the best as far as belt drive designs go. My 2002 Grizzly (bought it new in July of 2001) has been virtually trouble free except for normal wear and maintenance items. I have yet to have any problem with the belt and it has not required any adjustment or maintenance. I also use it regularly to pull large logs out of the woods (stressing it way above it's specified towing capacity). In the process I have broken my hitch twice but I've since beefed it up and have had no problems since. I've also used the Grizzly to pull a dead Dodge Caravan nearly 300 yards (including some uphill) through a field to its final resting place.
Riding two up is not recommended but if you must then you should at least widen the stance to improve the stability of the quad (adding ITP C-series wheels adds nearly 4" to the width) and go with 6 ply tires for durability and less body roll. Adding a winch to the front will help keep the front end planted as well as come in handy at times to get you or someone else out of a sticky situation.
Avoid the 2003 model year Grizzly as they had a different CV joint part which has a reputation for breakage. All other model years of the Grizzly do not have this problem...
