The problem with pull starts, is they are subject to get mud built up in them which can cause it to jam. You don't have that problem with a kick start.
I quess that is just one more example of how well built the TRX 300's are.( or were ) They are bullet proof. I have a 1990 TRX 300 FW. I have no idea how many miles I have on it. I flipped it down a mountain over 120 yards last Easter weekend. When I got to it, it was upside down in a creek. The front tires were off the rims. The rear axle was bent. The right A-arms were bent, and the handle bars were pushed down on the gas tank. I kid you not, we flipped it over and she fired right up. We all stood there amazed.
After I returned home, I pulled the axle out and had it straightened.($30.00) I had the A-arms bent back and welded. ($5.00) You should have seen the faces of the guys who witnessed the wreck when I came riding up with my old 300. They all said "that ATV should not be running",they looked at it as if it were a ghost.
I would like someday to buy a new Honda Rancher, but until this old blue 300 gives up I just can't justify it. I really just want to see how long the thing will last.
I kinda got off the subject a little, sorry.
Have fun, Jay

It was (I had one for a long time) very easy to use. There was a compression release lever on the 300 (front right on top of the engine), and after that, the weight of your foot and leg were enough to get the engine to turn over. Hardly any pressure was needed.
