I was thinking of buying paddle tires for my 250R for the winter. I was wondering if the paddles would rip off or break if I hit ice or hard pack. I was thinking of getting the ones with knobbies down the middle so they would last a bit longer but if they wouldn't rip off I might just get cheaper regular ones. Has anyone tried this? Also what should I jet it at for the winter, it is stock other than a FMF Fatty pipe and PCII silencer, I have a 150 main in it and I ride at about 2000 feet I think.

Why not just make up a set of chains for your current tires? As to jetting, the colder it gets, the bigger jet you need(the air is more dense). Try one or two sizes bigger, depending on how cold.

Chains on an R would absolutly suck! They would fling around and rip your fenders at high speeds. Last winter I used 22" Whooly Boogers studed with ice screws.
