Hello
I’ve got a 2000 Rancher 4X4 ES and want to trade it for a new foreman 500 4x4 ES.
I’m writing you from Portugal in Europe. Honda is going to start selling this machine this month.
In the U.S. it’s being sold from November 04. Have you had any problems, any recalls?
Thanks for your help

Well, I don't own one, but I thought I would reply (so you have a reply).
I'm looking at buying one in a couple of weeks and have been searching various pages about them.
Everyone who has one seems to like it, and I don't recall reading a single thread about a problem.
I assume you have read the two articles on ATV Connection's home page? 05 Foreman

I bought a manual shift Foreman 500 4X4 in December. I love it. It's only got 100 miles on it, but it has more power (in my opinion) than any other 500 I've ridden. It hasn't had any recalls and I haven't had any problems with it. The only thing I don't like about it is the fact that to check the oil you have to remove a plastic cover (minor gripe). The disc breaks in the front are great and the selectable four wheel drive is really nice. It handles and rides better than any other foreman by a long shot. I can also pull a wheelie in second gear (don't know if you can do that with the ES). Top speed is in the high 50's (I've hit 59 but I haven't verified it with GPS yet). You can also start this one in gear with the front break engaged. The digital display is also nice to have. I've had it in the mud a few times and the electronic front diff seems to do a pretty good job. If you want to know anything else feel free to post here or e-mail me at "pipirho7@hotmail.com".

I have the new '05 Foreman and it Rocks!!! I LOVE it! Highly recommend it. No problems yet just that I don't get enough time to ride and really enjoy it. It's a blast in the mud and climbing hills. Very low first gear. Mine is the ES model. It rides very nice! It is a bit stiffer ride compared to the Rancher but is still very smooth to me.

Hello
I think Honda is a very reliable atv, nevertheless when I bought my Rancher and mine was one of the first to be sold in Portugal I read in this forum about the recall regarding the shift plate. Here that recall happened two months later?...
In Portugal Honda sells 1000 atv per year, in the U.S. and Canada they probably sell 100.000, that’s why this forum is very useful to me.
Thank you all for the help. Sorry for the not so good English.
I’m going to my dealer tomorrow.
Safe ride

Hey CatFish...I have a 2000 Rancher ES 2x4. I can pull wheelies in 1st but not 2nd. Does the new Foreman have enough power to pull the front wheels in 2nd? I'm looking to upgrade. I want something sporty, while still being a utility quad. Autos seem kind of boring unless they are belt drive big bores. Belts are for holding up your pants...not for powerful engines. Did you consider any other ATV's besides the Foreman? Any info would be a big help. The local shops do not let you test ride much.
