Default Question about new tires!

i just got these tires and i was wondering if the psi is the same for the stockers and these. the stock tires look alot wider than these, i was thinking that the new ones were so narrow cause les schwab filled them to over ten. but i dropped the psi to 4 which is the same as stock and they still look narrow. i was wondering why my stock tires wore dwon so quickly? i bought my 400ex in august of 2004 brand new. the size of the new tires are the same as the old 20x10-9. im confused....

Default Question about new tires!

stock tires are junk on any quad they are a softer compound than any other tire i've seen. also i run 4 psi in all of my rear tires and 6 psi in the fronts so they bounce over things easily. on each of the quads we have i run 4 psi in each different kind of tire, and i got mudsharks on my Honda R, shredders on my LT, and the junk stock tires on my brother's 04 400ex, and i run 6 on my Razr's on my Honda and 6 on the front shredders on the LT. 10 is a good bit, it's better for high speeds, but you will lose traction. go by how many psi's max can be put into the tire never go the max, i usually always go 1/2 of what the max is in quads

but why would the tires wear out so fast..... for the 400ex max, it is 4.6 psi, so you think i should do 2.3?

Hate to tell you, but the tires you bought won't be any better that the stock ones you took off. Out here in the desert, they wouldn't last one ride. I have tried many tires over the years, and I keep coming back to ITP Holeshots. I run XC's on all my bikes.
