04 Rancher ESP Problems
#21
OK, I was able to repair mine and here is my solution. First I disconnected the battery for a couple of minutes. I had gotten some advice that this might reset the shift computer. It did and the problem apparently was gone. As an extra precaution, I removed the angle sensor, inspected it, and reinstalled it, putting some dielectric grease at the connection. I've ridden it almost all day, in varied conditions and the problem does in fact seemed to be solved.

Glad to hear you got your to work!! Still working on mine!! How easy is it to disconnect the sensor. Does it just pull out once the screws are out, or???? Thanks.

I was told by Honda that they have an different supplier for angle sensors. The new ones are supposed to be more reliable. Any new ones your dealer orders will be the improved sensor. I don't know how long ago parts inventories were updated though.
