Yes, sag is good. Sag is your friend.

TCS and AXIS shocks are set at approx 3" of sag.

I used to have a 300ex (now 400ex) and a good cheap suspension mod is the works performance dual-rate shocks. There not to expensive($250?) and they work much better than stock. Also, if you want to make your quad wider you can fit 400ex a-arms on (I have some)or offset rims and get either a axle or wheelspacers. I'm from Lumberton where do yall ride at in Fayetteville. Have you gone to the St. James dunes?

Do the TCS shocks offer more travel than stock? With the front end sitting lower does it get any wider (a-arms "more horizontal")? I am going to the IRONMAN to run my first race and want new shocks, but not anything that will make the quad wider.

 

I'm sure that with the geometry of the front suspension, there is a negligible width increase, nothing to be concerned about.

I race harescrambles, a lot of the courses are very tight, so additional width is a bad thing. I am very happy with this setup so far, the cornering improvement is impressive.

The TCS's are a tad longer than stock, if I remember correctly about 1/4 - 1/2", I'm not really sure what that translates to at the tire though. Todd at TCS could answer this better for you.

What is the Ironman? I haven't heard of it...

 

Thanks for the info - The IRONMAN is the GNCC race in Crawfordsville, In. I have never been, so I'm sure someone in here knows more about it than I do. It is supposed to be a pretty tough course, but I don't know. They usually have a write up in Dirt Wheels every year. I see you are from Missouri - Are you close to Macon? I pull tractors & we are going to Macon this weekend.

 

I'm in Branson, which is about 35 miles South of Springfield, near the Arkansas border. Basically SW Missouri.

I wish some of the GNCC came closer to me, I ride both the Missouri and Arkansas State harescramble series' and love it. This is my first year competing in these events and have been doing well and having a blast...

 

I have a set of TCS SCS front son mine, and when i first got them, yes it did sit low, but all you have to do, is very simple. At the top spring, there is a circlip, if you pull that top ring down a bit, youll see a circlip. Get the machine so that the whells are off the ground, and then pull that top ring down, and have someone else move that circlip down a few notches. Do this until you want it at the ride hight you like, then start to tune in your compression, rebound.

 

Your post begs the question, why???

By doing that you alter many factors. What was your reasoning behind doing this? Sounds like you are bypassing a couple of the great advantages to this setup.
