I was wondering what the difference between limited-slip vs the torque-sensing Traxlox on the new Foreman. Traxlox isn't like a Diff-locker is it?

Hey Doodle. The Traxlox is not a locker. It is limited slip. However, it is a type of limited slip called a torque biasing differential. I remember reading a great article on how it works, but I couldn't find it. Basically, suppose one of the front tires is only transfering say 10 ft lbs of torque and the wheel is slipping. The differential can transfer say 20 ft lbs of torque to the wheel that is not slipping. This is called torque biasing. In the example I gave, the torque bias is 2 to 1. That is 2 ft lb to the non-slipping wheel for every 1 ft lbs to the slipping wheel. This differential works quite well unless the slipping wheel is in the air. Then two times zero is zero, so no torque is transfered to the non-slipping wheel. A more typical limited slip on a car has clutch discs in it. In this case the friction of the clutch tends to keep the tires spinning at the same speed. In general, no manufacturer puts limited slip on the front end of any car, unless it is of the torque biasing type like the honda. Instead they have an open differential or an open differential with a locker.
I hope this helps you

Honda Trax Loc is the ability to switch from 2-wd to 4-wd. The from differential is equipped with a "torque sensing" differential. It is Honda's "posi-traction" type differential.

LOL Specta. "Posi tract" is one of the car manufacturers term for limited slip.

That is correct, just using the "term" as an "example".

Traxlox is a marketing term, which is supposed to make you think you have a locker. It applies to the 4wd / 2wd selection, not to the differential. The differential on pre 2002 units( pre traxlox), were the same as the 2003 units with traxlox.
There was a story in popular mechanics on the honda, and its kind of old, but its still got good info and here it is,
popular mechanics story
It doesnt cover the traxlox, because it hadnt come out when this story was written, but it goes into the differential, and expains how it works.
