my friend got a 400ex with the same mods as me except the bore. its the stock motor with the r4 pipe and K&N intake. he keeps telling me that his bike seems to just die off in the higher gears. he says 1-3 is very strong but 4th and 5th could use some work. he basically wants to keep up with me and a 450r and a yfz. im not sure which stage hotcam he should get because i herd on the stock motors the stage 2 really craps out the low to midrange. any ideas? thanks guys

 

No cam I know of is going to make a stock 400EX run with the machinery you mentioned. I have a stage 1 and works great in my stock motor. Great low and mid range on helps a little on top end as well. I wouldn't run a stage 2 in a stocker. 4th and 5th gear are still a little weaker though.
