I here what sounds like a vibration rattling noise coming from the bottom of the motor. It my be the trans part i am not sure. it is in all gears including neutral and is when the clutch is in or out. sounds to be in the middle RPM range

 

sounds like bottom end damage.....stop riding, tear it down, and you might get away with bearings

You are positive it isn't coming from the engine skidplate right? How long has it been happening?

 

it is happening since my brother rode it last when it was low on oil....it burns it.....it happened once before i added oil and then it went away. i am going to take the skid plate off and see but i am pretty sure it is the motor

 

What kind of machine is it? If it is burning oil it may be a good time for a rebuild regardless.

 

it is a 2000 400ex with a jet kit and K&N filter. where can i get rebuild kits for the motor

 

Honda of Troy has ads in Dirt Wheels with pretty good prices on 400ex parts.
