Default Transmission in bad shape

I own a 250ex and a while back i was messing with the transmission bolt on the front end of the motor. I was trying to stiffen up the transmission because i didnt like how it was sounding normally. Well i guess i did something wrong and it is really hard to shift and the bolt on the motor wont budge. I have read the owners manual and i tried everything. It still wont budge or loosen up. I thought about taking it up to our local honda dealer but i really wanna save the money and fix it by myself. Advice anyone? Anyone with a 250ex or anyone who knows what i am talking about please help. Thanx

Sounds like you guys were messing with the clutch adjustment. If you turn the adjustment screw clockwise too far, it may be possible to uncouple it from the detent underneath the front engine cover. At that point it may be nearly impossible to restart the adjustment bolt without cross threading it. You may end up removing the front engine cover to fix your problem. The proper clutch adjustment is turn the screw counterclockwise until you feel resistance, then back in a quarter turn, then tighten the locknut.
