2WD Foreman 500
I was wondering if anyone had purchased a new 2WD Foreman 500. I really like the blue plastic they came out with for this model, I wish you could get it in the 4x4. Anyways, I was wondering are these quite a bit "sportier" since the front end would be a lot lighter without the front differential? I'd like to have 4x4, but doubt I would ever need it much at all and if I did it would be because of some occassional snow or just being stupid. Also, do they have a digital display like the 4x4's or not. I've read in one magazine they do and another they don't. The reason I may look at this quad is because I need it for work and a little play (sand dunes occassionally) and there really isn't any "bigger" machines out there in 2WD besides maybe the KFX700, but it doesn't have racks. If anybody has ridden one I'd like to know what you think.

I can't speak directly on this but can do a comparison between a 4X4 Kodiak and a 2X4 Kodiak. The difference from not having the added weight is significant in terms of handling. It is kind of the same as the difference between a 4X4 with a winch and one without. Most people could do without a 4X4 especially once you change to better tires on the back.
I am running on a 400ex now with 22" Razr tires and can go anywhere a Foreman can go in 2-wheel drive.

There is no display on the 2wd. The color is nice, but you can not get it in 4wd. The Foreman will go almost anywhere in 2wd. The resale on the 4wd will be much better then a 2wd. I would buy the 4wd just for the fact that if you need 4wd and don't have it, what are you going to do.

I have 2wd and 4wd Ranchers. The 2wd is a real kick to ride. With the right tires, it handles like a (heavy) sport bike (with limited suspension). The 2wd will do some amazing things! That extra weight on the 4X4 is up front, there it does the most harm. I love to take it when all my friends are riding their massive, heavy 4X4's, and show them that I can do anything they can, and on a bike that is 250 lbs. lighter (and way more fun to ride)!
That said, there are just some times when you absolutely need a 4X4 (snow and mud in particular). I live in dry country, so mud isn't an issue for me. And, it only snows in the mountains, so I can pick the times when I want to ride. But, my kids are getting bigger, and I like the security of putting them on a 4X4 when we are out in the wilderness, so I see another 4X4 somewhere in my future..........
