i just bought a 1987 trx250r and noticed that on top of the frame located under the gas tank that the frame is two pieces welded together the weld's are on both sides of the frame under where the bolts are that hold the mount that is attached to the top of the engine cylinder.The welds look to be factory but im new to this machine and dont know if this is the way it came stock. thanks for the help.

 

That's factory... I believe the factory made the frame in sections and put them together there under the tank. My 86 is that way, and all the ones I have seen are similar.
