Just returned from one of the best weekend trips of riding I have ever experienced so far. Its called Durhamtown Plantation in Georgia on the eastern side of the state. Its like a small town with cabins, camping, a resturant that serves three meals a day, a lodge, pool and ping-pong table, 7000 acres and motocross tracks like you would not believe. They also have a dirt drag strip for racing you atv or dirtbikes. There is over 70 miles of trails ranging from good dirt roads to swamp and mud trails to tight woods. We rode for two days and didnt cover half of them. A great place to visit. Just thought you might want to give them a try. It surely was great fun.

ive seen that place on the net....just wondering what kind of pricing goes on there.....from what ive gather on their web site it seems you pay for each activity you do...like the shooting range...tracks...etc... is this true even if you get a cabin and stay the weekend?....ive got a group of us interested if i could get a little more info...

Actually you just pay per person per day. A weekend pass is cheaper than buying the daily passes. 50 bucks for the entire weekend riding. You could then ride anywhere you wanted, trails, tracks , drag racing , whatever you wanted to do. The only extra expense we ran into was the night ride. It was 15 bucks per person guided trail ridee for 3 hours. The ride time through the day is from 9am till 5pm. I dont know if they extend these times during the summer months or not. I know we didnt get in off one trail till 6 that afternoon and nothing was said. They do have signs everywhere stating none cranked before 8am or after dark. We got the best cabin we could get with a shower, ac and heat, satelite tv and refrigerator for 75 a night. It was very nice and comfortable with a big front porch and fire pit and fire wood out front for you if you wanted it. I have no complaints about it. A great way to spend a weekend. The rustic cabins which were no more than a 12 x 12 ft box with bunkbed and a electric heater were only 35 a night but you had dto use public facilities. You got what you paid for. Hope this helps.

Better take a hard look at duramtown, they have cut the atv trails to less than 4 miles, its all on there forum, the owner said he was feed up with the atv's tearing up the trails and as they got to bad he would just shut them down, I find it hard to believe the post I read, they never had that many trails ever, check out some of the related duramtown threads on atv nation, Mike the owner is into dirtbikes and has said he is done catering to the atv riders and soon as they get the meassage and stop coming cant be soon enough. Just as a note, try their website, he did have a big atv section, he booted it off completely a month ago.

There were tons of dirt bikes there this weekend and only a few, maybe 30 atvs but we were treated just great. They, Durhamtown, had atv's for rent to anyone that was interested. As far as the trails go, we rode the swamp trail friday afternoon when we arrived, it was almost 8 miles long. Saturday we rode a few more of the short ones before lunch. Mike told us to try the new trail marked "new trail" if we wanted a long ride. It took us almost 5 hours to complete this one trail, hardwood section with off cambers and winding trails that ended up next to the river. Lots of mudholes and hilly windy sections there for miles. Then it turned into some tight winding trails up and down hills through a thick pine tree section for miles. It totalled 39 miles and we didnt get a chance to ride a couple more that we saw. I am not saying that they dont want to weed us atv riders out, I just am saying that we had a great time and were treated very nicely. As a matter of fact I emailed Mike this morning and thanked them for showing us such a great time. He responded saying it was only going to get better so come on back!

Last time i went to Durhamtown was in November and all the trails were open to quads. I know Mike is a little prejudice toward four-wheelers but there is no way he would not let them ride there. Last time i went it was about 50-50 between quads and the bikes. They would lose a ton of money. I do know that they just split the big mx track into two parts, one for bikes and one for quads. Mostly because they don't have sprinklers and when the quads would get out there the bike guys coudln't see a thing (understandable). My dad and i have stayed in the nice cabins and the cheap ones. The nice ones are awesome but for two people the cheap one works, it has the two things you really need: Cold AC and a bed. The public showers aren't too bad, only when it starts to get cold outside. I went on the night ride the first time i went there and will never do so again. Most people were on utility quads except for me, my friend, and some guy on a 400EX. So the leader decided to take us through the swamp. We got lost, the utility riders were having fun in the mud and we sport riders were having to pull our selves out every ten feet, it sucked. We were out until midnight that night. Besides the night ride I would reccomend going there to anybody, they have serious mud-bogging (i've seen many quads swallowed), drag racing, hill climbing (kennys hills), mx, smooth trails for beginners, and good eating. About the only thing i haven't found there was a real technical trail.

all I can add in on DT is if he keeps on trying to run atv's off like Mike has been it will turn out to hurt him. When he got back into riding motorcycles, atvers of course will get blamed for the trail condition. His excuss is it costs to much to keep up the trails. I call BS with all the money he racks in. Not only from the motorcycles and atv's but all his other uses his does with his land. He is making a fortune at that place.

Just be carefull w/ DP. The owner does not really want ATVs on his land and he has expressed this on his forum several times but when there was a negative reaction, all post where deleted. If you want to spend $20+ a day to ride at a place that the owner disrespects you then go ahead but I have made the choose to remove myself.

I am speaking from experience I was a memeber for two years and then found out that I ( or any other ATV'er) was no longer wanted because we tear up his land. Although I was not one of the people ripping up the ground I was lumped together w/ all the yahoo's.

It's your choice. There are some good trails there but the owner has burned some bridges in the ATV world and for now I choose to spend my money elsewhere.

I agree!!!
They don't want your bizz....go somewhere else....
But they have not expressed that to us yet. I'm not sure if they (Mike/DP) have decieded to take a break on the ATV's bashing or not ....I think that they really don't like the 4x4's Atv's....but I seemed to be welcome so far...
I been 4 times and can't find that trail that takes 5 hours to go through...you must be back tracking or something ....

The MX guys do seem to BI#$ a lot.....Even though I towed a couple of them back to camp when they broke down.....

I dont have one complaint ....They have the worst BBQ sauce I have ever put in my mounth...I could believe that they called it BBQ sauce....IT was Awful....I know bring my own lunch...
