Yeh, if you mod them like that they blow all the time. If you ride hard it's expected. You trade reliabilty for speed and power. The main thing is to find a comfortable and affordable middle. Personnaly i think it was the K&n filter that did it....I'm sure some will will say other wise.
I think he is saying the wrist pin broke though that is normally what happens. Then the rod busts the side of the case and locks up taking out the crankshaft. The head is sometime salvagable.
Does your warranty cover it if you mod the engine like that? Most will not.

I have all all the mods listed on my pic page to my 440ex for two years and isn't even showing signs of wear yet. There is probably like 5 guys on this entire forum that need to rebuild every couple of runs from being so modded. And Im talking nothing stock but block quads.
It is definately a manufacturers default, bad part or something. Make sure you let Honda get attention to this and Im sure all repairs will be covered. Don't let the dealer weisel there way out of repairs. Be firm.

I'm going to ignore this.
I have seen tons of blown engines and ragged out smokers ready to blow.
It's usually caused by incorrect timing and lean fuel mixture at high RPM. And K&n filters.

If you think his problem was caused by jetting or a K&N, I'd like to know where you work.
Because I want to avoid that shop.

You guys take things too serious this whole thread is obviously a joke. Honda's don't blow up! Whoever heard of a piston skirt breaking?

Your ignorance astounds me.
Most the times it is caused by a defect or too much piston slap.
Kinda too late to cover your a$$ RAZOR
