I just bought a 2005 rubicon and I was wondering can you put a winch on it. I looked on the front but didn't see any place to mount the winch.

 

I goes in front of the radiator and behind the front bumper. On the crosspieces that run from the front to the radiator you mount the plate and the winch on top of that.

I bought a winch mounting kit on www.montanajacks.com for around 50$. I can't remember the exact price but I think it was under 60$ shipped. The kit is made by warn. It worked great, the instructions were easy to follow. The part # is 70830

Question for you. Does the new 05 Rubicon have 2wd/4wd traxloc now? I know one of my buddies bought a new 04 model and it was full time 4wd until he installed the warn 424 kit. I love everything about it but the fact that it was a full time 4wd. Awesome machine.

 

Yes, the 2005 Rubicon does have Traxloc 2wd/4wd. It's a great machine.
