I think you make some good points, but I want to point out that the points you made (many of them at least) are your opinions. The seat and shocks for instance. I have never had a "comfort issue" with mine. No question that the trx seat is MORE comfortable, but I don't think that the yfz is UN-comfortable. The shocks; their set up for racing. Their also adjustable, and can be set quite soft. I like mine right in the middle. I love the suspension on the yfz. I like the balance of the yfz much more than the trx also. I find the trx to be a little "wheelie happy," making it hard for me to keep the nose down when racing, trail riding, and climbing hills. Now as to the reliability thing, you may very well be right. That's why I have a warranty. And after the warranty is up, I'll probably sell it and buy a new one! Now, these are my opinions. I do agree that they are both fantastic bikes. I guess I should mention that I am only 19 also, so maybe me being young makes the seat and suspension no problem; time will tell I guess! Anyway, both great bikes.

For those that complain about the harshness of the YFZ suspension.....you're not riding hard enough. Anyone that has the capabilities of pushing it to it's limits would know first hand that the suspension is about as close to race ready as any quad comes. Yet it's still not enough. Again, those that have the ability to push it to it's limits are the only ones that would have a right to complain about it.

The seat....I have yet to hear of anyone that purchases a YZ or CR dirtbike purchase them for the comfort of the seat. If you don't like it buy a Goldwing and tour the country with your retired buddies. I'm 35 and have no problem with it. To be honest, I can't remember the last time I rode any quad for a length of time and sat on the seat for more than a few minutes the entire day. Again, goes back to riding hard.

For those that complain about it being small. It's as wide or wider than any other ATV made. It's as long or longer than any ATV made. How can it be smaller? The ground clearance isn't any lower. The handle bars maybe? Dunno? I'm 6'4" and fit the bike fine.

The people complaining about the little things on this bike are not pushing it to it's limits. If that's the case then buy a trail bike like the Z400 it's probably a better ATV for you anyway.

I agree with not staying in the seat. I rarely sit in the sit for much of my ride, so the seat definitly does not even come into play when considering a purchase besides I can change it out if I want to........I mean come on I have a red velvet seat on my 250R Now the shocks do only because I only weigh 120 so I would definitly need to soften the suspension a bit whether that be adjusting the stock or buying after market As far as deciding between the YFZ and 450R I have only ridden a very modified YFZ at this point so...........in order to truely make an educated decision I would love to ride a very modified 450R. Like I said in another one of my replies I have always been a Honda girl until I rode the YFZ now I have to make an educated decision.

Yeah I know I should keep my 250R. I just might, and if I find that I grab my 4-stroke more often than not to ride whether it be the 450R or the YFZ then I will sell my 250R

there is a lot of truth in this post from one of my arkansas locals the yfz was made for mx. you dont see Doug Gust or anyone riding around with their butt on the seat going off jumps. if you want comfort and fun get something more like a raptor or Z400. some ppl get all hyped up about atv's they hear about and all they want is the best and what they think is going to smoke everyone elses quad. most of their info on the quad is just from all the hype but it may very well be a awesome atv. that my take on it

hey lbc, i think some of us would be happy to see pics of your 250R if you have any on your computer see if you can upload them or something. just cuious.

I couldn't have said it better. For my riding style, the suspension works just fine. I ride it as hard as I dare (which is pretty damn hard) and the suspension works awesome for me. I way about 180, so maybe it just works better for my weight, then again, you may be a lot better/harder rider than me, and therefore need the better suspension! I'm still kinda new to the whole atv scene, but I think I'd surprise anybody with what I can do considering I've only been riden for about four months now! (I'm not braggin at all, there's a ton of riders who are WAY better than me, I'm just sayin that I can put bikes through the paces!) And like you said, hard riders are hardly ever even on the seat! Anyway, I think that the yfz is kickass, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. And in reply to IBC about the heavily modified yfz, I believe from what I've read on your postings, that you just have the pipe, jet, filter, and maybe cam (correct me if I'm wrong). In a race there isn't a huge difference from that to stock in overall speed. It pulls a lot harder built, but in a race, it's not incredibly faster. So stock (without the baffle in the muffler) won't be a very large step dwon in performance from what you're husband is riding. That's all just to give you an idea of the stock comparison between teh honda and yfz. And whoever was talking about the yfz being smaller, I think that the original statement referred to the low cernter of gravity. The funny thing is, people are using that as an argument against the yfz, like it's a bad thing! For anyone out there that doesn't understand the concept of a low center of gravity, it means that it'll handle better! It is a lot less tippy in turns for starters, and that's enough for me! I think this may be my last posting on this thread, 'couse it seems all we do is go in circles of talking up our own machines. Unless someone comes up with something new to talk about in this catagory, than count me out people. Ride what you like.

lbc, thanx for the idea about using soft scrub. I got some last night and it really did shine it up!

I will try to send some photos. I have lots of hard copys but none on digital right now. I think I have some from when we were building it on the computer though. I'll try at some point to get some pics on this site. I am pretty new to the forum so I have not set up a picture profile yet.
