Default 2004 Rancher ES CODES BLINKING GEAR INDICATOR

I have searched and searched for these codes on countless threads and have not found a good list of what blinking codes are for which problem.I did however find out from a dealer that code #3 / #8 point to the angel sensor in the motor. But i still would like to find the complete list for further trouble shooting.

Finally figured out that code 3 and 8 together means it need a clutch adjustment.I never touched this aspect of the rancher but tried anyway. After making the minor adjustment it shifts well with the ES and quit blinking the codes........However if anybody has or knows where a complete list on OEM ES CODES are please reply back........Thank-you...................Wild

Its surprising how often the clutch adjustment is the sourse of the problems.
I have the list for a foreman, but I dont think the codes are the same for a rancher.

Ive got the codes for a 2003 rancher, and i assume they are the same as the 04.
Just knowing what the code reads isnt gonna do you alot of good, unless you have the troubleshooting guide as well. It isnt really specific, and just points the finger at a circuit which has a fault. Could be a fuse, could be a pinched wire, could be a bad ground, could be a defective unit, could be water in a connector...and so on.
In the clymers book, and the honda factory service manual the troubleshooting logic tree, are about 8 pages long.
Your best bet is to get the clymers, for about 22 bucks on ebay, and then you have the complete trouble shooting guide to step you through the procedure for finding the problem.

1 gear indicator flash ecu writing and recording circuit.
2 es shift switch up and down
3 angle sensor system
4 gear position switch system
5 ecu motor driver circuit
6 ecu fail-safe relay circuit
7 ecu voltage convert circuit
8 angle sensor system
9 angle sesor system
10 ignition pulse generator system
11 vehicle speed sensor system
12 gear postion switch system

Dont just go throwing parts at the quad if you get a code, you got to do the proper troubleshooting, to find the fault.
Do you know the procedure for reading and clearing the codes?

Thank-you for the codes I really appreciate it. I have another problem to,when I tried to adjust the clutch per my handbook instructions,I cracked the nut on the adjustment screw ,and made my adjustment, then when I went to tighten up the nut I had a ( brain fart )and must have turned the nut 5 or 6 turns thinking I had took it all the way off .Now I don't know if it will tear up something if I crank it,as I don't know if I ran the screw in to far. Guess I'll look on ebay for a service manual. Thanks Again

Shouldnt be a biggie.
To readjust the clutch, just loosen the nut, go ccw on the screw, until you hit resistance, go back cw, 1/4 turn, hold the screw staionary and snug up the nut.

It wont hurt anything to just select a gear with the emergency handle and drive. Pain in the butt...ya, but it wont hurt anything.

I dont think the codes are the same, there might be minor differences. Maybe someone else knows for sure.
