how do u get rust off a quad

How do you get rust off of a quad? Is there some type of chemical i can use to take the rust off? I was looking and they said to soak the parts in oil. What type of oil are you guys talking about?

get a small silver container at wal mart that is a polisher, it looks like cotton, but it works perfect, let me think of the name of it
