There not bad on long trpis but everytime you punch it the tires spin and you are all over the place especialy with the HRC kit.

Best to do relatively frequent oil changes. Rebuilds will be more frequent than many machines. It's just the nature of any high-rev engine.

I like the machine for those long rides in the open desert, and faster more open trails. For tighter trail, I pick the Z400. For semi-technical trail, I prefer the 400EX.

Yea man when ever you touch the gas it hauls so i wouldn't pic that quad if your a trail rider. They said that the 450's rated the worse on trail cause of there power. If your a light rider then i'd reccomend a raptor or something with less power so that you can keep the from end down. lol i'm only like 120 and the front end of the YFZ450 kept off the ground, those 450's freak the crap out of me, but they have loads of power.

the raptor has a lot more power.... i mean torque and its a lot more wheelie happy. the yfz is made to MX and you dont want o wheelie ALL the time. it has enough power too but i think it does a good job of staying under control and keeping the front end on the ground. you cant steer with it in the air. smoother power is better for trails along with comfort... and reverse.... you get the picture

Mine's running smoother than when it was brand new! Nothing's broken on it yet (knock on wood). Rear tires do spin when you punch the gas, but nothing uncontrollable. I'm 6'2" and weigh 240lbs.

WTF. Power doesnt make it a bad trail quad.... A Raptor has more power and tourqe then a 450R, and it wheelies ALOT easier... That makes the raptor one of the, if not the, Best Trail bike... the ability to pop the front end up over obsticles... yOu make no sense, you say the 450R is bad for the trails because it has to much power, so you reccomend a Raptor 660R because it has less power and keeps the front end down. HAHHA you obviously never road a Raptor..

Actually...he's right dude.

Every Raptor I've raced ever since I got my 450R have been left behind choking on my dust.

You've obviously never "road" a 450R...Mwahahaha!
