hehe im with u but i can tell u from all my research that u can't run the bore kit alone.. the other thing is with stock suspension u will get hurt. u gota invest in ur suspension as perrile says "power is nothing with out control"

it won't add to ur top speed because of ur gearing u will peg out at the same rpm and with all the gears the same the ratos don't change so the top speed stay the same. i think this is a comon mis conseption about power. power dosn't nessesarly equal speed. in ur case u can get to ur top speed more quickly and u will have more power to muscle ur way through turns and up hill climbs through sand ect but ur top speed dosn't cjange unless u modify ur gear ratios (i.e. change ur sprocket)

Hey quadkid9d,

Where are you getting the kit from, and what kind of money are you paying? also what compression piston does the kit come with? I am looking to put a 330 kit in my son's 300ex this summer, even bought a spare cylinder off ebay to mod,so if there are any problems, I can go back to stock and keep it running. Some kits recommend going to an aftermarket cam to get the most out of the bore, and some cams require hardened rockers, so the cost goes way up once the parts are all added up. I would appreciate anyone giving me any information on this, I have already modded the suspension, 400ex a arms and shocks up front, Raptor shock in the rear, rear wheel spacers to match up the front, and Fast Trekker tires for the hookup and handling. Rides and handles great, now need to punch it up a little.

I think the biggest thing with the 330 kit is to watch what kind of rod their selling. A stock rod that has been shortened does not have the strength of a good aftermarket rod. That can be a big problem if your going with more compression, or higher rpm's. Four Stroke Tech claims that the valves are way to small to make very serious power. They sugested opening up the valves, porting the exhaust, going bigger with the cam, going up with the compression, and going up with the carb for some serious power increase.

asfasasu3,
so are you saying that there is better, more reliable power to be had with proper porting, better piston and a cam to go with it than simply putting a bigger bore kit in? That is my main concern, I would like the power, but want the engine to stay solid, for years of trailriding, and an occasional run on the track ( couple of times a year). Is that the kind of work that Four stroke tech would do, as opposed to just putting a bigger jug on it. I already have almost all of the other mods needed, it has a pipe, filter, modded air box lid, better suspension and tires, just needs the extra snap to go with it.

I have heard that there is some reliablity problems, but most of it was with the rod. Mickey was on a chat board talking with some guys about the 300, his thoughts, for the trail riding and genral use, was to save the bigbore for when it was needed. (when you've bored your stock jug to the point it needs resleeved) He mentioned that on the 300, porting would have major effects on performance. To be truthfull, I put a 12:1 piston and a small White bros cam in my sons 300 this winter, and was a little dissapointed in the performance. (I also had to put a new rod in it while I was at it) It does run better than a stock 300, but it just doesn't have the bang I was hoping. (although it is just right for the 11 year old riding it) I believe our next step will be the rockers and a bigger cam. If all else fails, then we'll look into the big bore or stoker kits. By the way, our 300 also has a Uni filter, rejetted carb, Pro Circut t-4 pipe, and the front end of a 400ex with spacers on the rear Dura blue. While it runs really well, I see so much more potenial in my youngest sons Blaster. (as far as power goes) Right now, his blaster is stock, and he can hang with me when I'm on the 300. (I do have a big weight disadvantage on him) If he gets his pipe and carb like he wants, I believe the Blaster will smoke the 300.
