So what was the reason behind cancelling production of the 250R? Wasn't the government behind it or something?

I, personally, think the reason for quitting production was the massive amounts of lawsuits filed against Honda. I read many suits where it was rider's fault and they sued Honda. This isn't necessarily lawyers or government fault. We have too many people in this country unwilling to take responsibility for their own actions, and there are a lot of people out riding off-road without making sure they can take care of themselves should they get hurt. Some of the suits were ridiculous, but Honda had to pay. . .ie: some guy on a 200X turned in front of a moving pickup, saw the truck and tried to accellerate out of the way. The pickup couldn't stop in time and hit him. He sued (apparently this dweeb didn't have insurance or enough insurance to cover himself) and claimed that because the motorcycle wouldn't accellerate fast enough he was injured. He won $250,000! Jury trial! The jury (local citizens) awarded this jerk the money. Many other suits like this. Most of them have been fought and are over. All the manufacturers had to fight them. There are precedents set now so there won't be too many more of these suits. It seems now that people are suing over personal watercraft accidents and snowmobile accidents. A lot of people are looking for something for nothing, ya know what I mean?
