Has anyone here tried to fit a 600 XR engine in a 400 EX frame ? Wouldn't that be cool?

Dirt wheels had a 250R framed 600xr motored quad. The did a shoot out with a ds650 and 250R and that was thrown in for good measure, they never talked about it much because the shoot out was basically for the 250R and ds. It beat the ds but was behind the 250R. Would be cool to have though!

hem.
Has everyone probably guessed, I really would like to have a different machine, one that my neighbour can't have. But I have trouble finding prices for engines (complete and running without all the frame that usually goes around), and I simply have never seen anyone selling an atv without the engine. But without taking the two extremes (full engine and full quad except the engine), what sort of prices should I expect? Is there any web site where I could find that (if in can$, perfect) ?

Hey zorro, I see you live in quebec canada also,
I MIGHT (not for sure yet) be getting an XR600 soon, and if I do, come winter when I cant ride it anymore, I was going to take the motor out and put it in a Honda ATC350X chassis probably, unless I could find a honda quad chassis for cheap enough.
but anyways, let me know if you find anything.
I would like to see picture if you build one.
by the way, how far is it from where you live to Lennoxville or Sherbrooke area of Quebec?

I have that Dirt Wheels issue right here! It's March 2000, that 600ex has 45-50 hp and it weighed in 100lbs less than the DS. On the track though the DS was only a second behind it, i bet in straight drag that 600ex would be tough to beat. They said the 600 had more hit in the powerband and more low end than the DS. But it speaks well for the DS to be in this kind of company and be competitive.

Terribly sorry if I mad you made hondatrx300ex. I bought the rims and tires off of a friend who got new ones. Didn't know they were the same. I'll take it out of my signature so I won't make any one else mad.
