I ran mine around a little till it was good and warmed up.Then left it cool completely down.I wanted the rings to seat. And I repeated the process a couple more times not exceeding 1/2-3/4 throttle. Then I rode it and tried to keep it out of the deep water.

I may be dumb but I followed Hondas recomendation of 20 hours of no more then 1/2 throttle and dont stay in one gear for an extended amount of time. I guess I just want my 400 to be running good in the future and I think this is a good way to promote that.

set on fire for 2 hours, once its good and warm, hose off, then set on fire again for 30 minutes, but this time, use gas to burn it...make sure its good and hot..then it should be ready to go

No, I think that's the Polaris/Yamaha break in procedure, except the last step should read "then it should be ready to go... to the dump, then go buy a Honda."

Take easy for first tank of gas then have at it!

I've never had a brand new quad to try it on...let me know how it works out? Thats my plan for my 01 400ex that i hope to get Saturday =)

I don't think they need broke in. According to the guy that works on my quad, ex-MX racer. When he worked on my blaster, he said that the piston, bore, and all that will seat within the first 10 minutes of running.

He said with every new bike hes had he started it up, let it warm completely up. Let it cool completely down and then just took it semi-easy, not running it like its a rental, but taking it gentle, not over revving ect.
