I want to paint my helmet
#1
I would like to paint both mine and my wife's helmets. Currently both a white and pretty Blah looking. I would like to paint it Olive green to match the Rubicon's color. Does any one know if there is a paint code to match this? If so what is it, and whose the paint manufacture?
Also, I was thinking about a nice Ghost flame on the helmets with an outlined of the flames with a third color green.
Thought and suggestions welcome. Does any one know of a place that will paint helmets or will I have to have someone locally paint them.

Greetings,
In my totally unsubstantiated opinion, this is probably not a good idea. By the time you get done with this project, you probably could buy new helmets for less. Also, I suspect anything painted on would end up scratching off and looking pretty ratty in a short while.
As an alternative, consider using stickers to liven up your headgear. I have seen flame kits made of bendable tape -- these might work pretty well on a helmet.
I too am a big fan of the flame look. I bought a totally overpriced Harley helmet just because the flame decor was so neat.

I actually was thinking the same idea about painting my head gear. However I just purchased an olive green helmet to match my 450 from ebay for around $35 (full face mask) You might want to check out that avenue, but whatever you decide to do I would pick out a very hard paint and then use a clear lacquer finish over that. They also make helmet skins using spandex...
Good luck

I don’t think I believe that “integrity of the helmet” thing. If this were true why is it that all the helmet manufacturers paint their helmets? If there paint is a special paint I still wouldn’t worry about it because you would just be painting over there paint/clear coat and not straight on the bare helmet.
As far as painting goes I would have a local air-brusher do it. If you have any local lowrider clubs you can usually find people that do amazing things for relatively cheap. I would definitely put a good clear coat on top and when it starts to get dull just buff it out.
