Tires for 400EX
#1
Fellas I got a question for yall. I am in the market for some new tires for my 400EX. First of all I will tell you where I ride. I ride mainly trails (mud, jumps, big hills, rocky stuff). I dont ride any MX stuff although I would if I had the chance. So the tires need to be good trail tires but I dont want to sacrifice handling and get something like paddles. I will tell you the two that I have been looking at are the Holeshots and the Spider tracs. The holeshots seem to be more of an MX tire although I see alot of people run them in the trails. I like the tread pattern of the spider tracs though, they seem to have an aggressive mud pattern but not to much so that the ride will be rough and handle terrible. Which is the best tire for me? Does any one run the spiders? Any comments will be appreciated. Oh yeah any one know where I can get shock covers? Thanks again!!

I put Maxxis All-Trak Tires on my 400EX. They give me pretty respectable traction in the mud, and as an added bonus, the side lugs help the machine "climb" out of ruts with the sidewall. You can see them on my web page at:

I also put 22 inch tires on because it gave me more ground clearance, and geared the machine up a bit.

Do the 22 inch tires upset the handling at all? I am already running a 14 tooth sprocket so should I drop to 13 when I put 22 inchers on? Still is anyone running the Spidertracs? I found a guy running them on a raptor but no Hondas yet. Let me know how these tires are fellas?

You can see the Bandits on this page:http://www.rockymountainatv.com/home.asp?sid=00100628
Click on tires and package deals and a picture of the Bandit will be on the top right hand corner. The tread is pretty deep and the tires are very flat across the top - good trail tires, but not as aggressive as mud sharks or spider tracs.
