Do you mean 250EX??? For 04 and previous years it was called "Sportrax250EX", and for 05 it is called "TRX250EX". Nothing but a name change.

They are a great entry level machine for adults, or an intermediate machine for bigger kids. The engine will benefit from an aftermarket air filter and exhaust, but there isn't much point doing a bunch of expensive hop ups on a machine at this level. There is lots of aftermarket stuff like nerf bars, skid plates, bumpers, etc.

Can your Recon pull wheelies? I have a 1986 Honda Fourtrax 250 and I've freed up the exhaust a bit (it was broken so I took off a piece and it's louder and feels a little more powerful). I also took the airbox lid off and I don't know if this boosts my power but I know that I need to somehow keep this bike cool or else my power just goes away. I want to find a way to give this bike another 5 horsepower but don't knwo how as there dont' seem to be any aftermarket parts.

On our Recon and 250EX I have the airbox lid vented with four UNI airbox lid vents (don't use to many, because the little 250 can only take so much air), a UNI air filter, and MeagMaxII muffler. Perks the little machines up quite a bit.

It only pulls whellies if i rev it and slip in the clutch in 1st, ( doesnt do the gearbox any gud tho ! ) ive tried taking the air box lid off today and i can hear it suckin all that air in! so i guess it wasnt getting enough through that little breather it had. Ive also corrected the air and exaust valves on it because i have started to get a bit of blue smoke coming through, it hasnt helped much but it has made the bike more responsive, i think its time for some new piston rings !

You don't go adding more air WITHOUT A REJET. Your machine will run LEAN AND HOT, and YOU WILL RUIN YOUR ENGINE!

I'm a heavy guy for the Recon, and I can wheelie it very easily without poping the clutch. Something wrong there...........

Wow 23 is small. I have 25 X 9 X 12 rears on my Fourtrax 250 and I could still get bigger.
