But you know what??

THE RAPTOR BEATS THE 400EX. That is the fact. Everyone is saying the 400ex is so great for keeping up. For thoes people, I say "Have fun in second place!" I don't care how good it keeps up. That just means it's going to be behind the raptor. These are both HIGH PERFORMANCE machines. If a timberwolf was to keep up with a Quadzilla, that would be something.
I guess the point to my rambling is that a machine that keeps up still looses.
The purpose of a race is to WIN!

I just think that whole shoot-out sounded a little fishy to me.All the shoot-outs they ever did, the 400EX always ran flawlessly. Now they get two test riders this time, whose family happens to own a company that sells high performance clutch components, and guess what? A clutch problem.. The magazines are all about making money, I don't believe any of them. They sure have some pretty pictures though.

Sound to me like the best quad out there is the one the author of the post is riding. Just remember, "thers always a bigger fish" no matter what you ride. Just ahve fun and dont get so concerned when something new comes along. Do you recall the posts when the 400ex came out? This smells like all of that to me

I have only ever owned Hondas and Yamahas. I like both and both have their weaknesses. No quad or machine is perfect. I loved my 99'400ex that I traded for my 95 Warrior. The 400 ex was a definite step up from the Warrior. After mastering my e-series 400 I heard rumors of the Raptor. A 5 valve 660cc dual carb liquid cooled quad and to top it all off reverse. I ride my mx track, alot of trails and open roads. I'll tell you that the Raptor is all that and some. I put a downpayment in May and got it the day after Labor Day. I had not had one single problem whatsoever. I was extremely impressed with the craftsmanship of this bike. The 400 was great but this fixed its shortcommings. Yamaha built this thing to be better then the 400, banshee, and DS650. They accomplished it. The Raptor pulls so hard and it is stock. I have now put a E-series pipe, graydon nerfs, and a dura blue eliminator axle. I must admit at first I worried about missing my 400 that was paid for. Well I don't. All I can say is this bike will walk down anything out there. It is the fastest quad out there. And you Guys say the Raptor can't handle well that is not true either. Everyones saying it can't beat a modified 400 thats bull. My Raptor stock could beat my 400 E-series and now that I put a e-series on the Raptor it flys. It is geared tall but I dropped to a 12 sprocket and that did the trick. Go out and test one. If you trail ride and like mx jumping and flat out haulin a$$ and are experienced rider the Raptors for you. It is a definite step up from the 400 in many more categories then just cc's. I sold my 400ex to my best friend and got the Raptor. Even though he got a killer deal it was worth it. The Raptor is KING!!!
