New or used atv?? Help

Hello again. We are deciding pretty soon and thinking about getting a Rancher AT or a Rubicon. Not quite sure which one yet. I just told my dad to go down there and ride both of them once and see which one he likes better. For chasing cattle, this guy told us that we wouldn't wanna get anything bigger than our 450 foreman cause its too clumsy and not as easy to get around. Now the question is to buy a new one, or a used one off of ebay or maybe someone local. What are good prices for both machines new, and used with about 500 miles on? Is the switchable 2wd/4wd that big of a deal to have? I've been told to if i get a new one to deffinetly get an owners manuel. Anything else that i should consider when buying is appreciated. Thanks

If you are thinknig about a 450 Foreman or a new machine, give thought to a 500 Foreman. It is much easier to steer, rides better, and they added some more power. I am surprised how much they improved the machine and how much fun it is too ride.
As for prices: Rancher 350 foot shifts are on sale in WV for 3999.99 plus about $200 in prep and crap
Foreman 500 4x4 S - I paid $6100 W/tax and title and all fees. not great but I did get it locally. U can do a bit better if you travel.
Good luck

If you go with used: BE VERY WEARY OF EBAY! There are several posts on here that you can search for concerning certain criteria that would indicate the ever abundant scam. Before I was made aware of these idiots trying to steal people's money, I almost pulled the trigger on a deal that would have certainly ended up very badly for me. If it's out of country, don't even think about it. There are several other indicators as well that I can't remember right now. Search......

I just bought a 04 400 AT GPScape w/ 590miles for 4100.It has the recalls done and is in good shape.
My take on internet shopping. It is a reasonable safe way to buy. There are alot of shipping companies targeting this market.ForwardAir is one that offers good rates. The one main thing I found is exchange as many e-mail addresses and phone numbers.Have stupid amounts of communication with seller and get as much of a vibe off seller.I have found that if the seller is willing to tell you when and where they purchased it from and is willing to let you check the referrences. If you are willing to have a dealer in the sellers area do a mechanical inspection(check for recalls) it will be the best money spent. If a seller is willing to take the time to take the atv to the dealer it all helps in the seller be reliable.
Trader online is a ok place.
Good luck,M/M.

Yes, ATVTraderOnline.com is a great place to look. I'm just speaking specifically about eBay. A young person with big dreams of a quad could easily be drawn into a money scheme if not cautious........
