New Rubicon Snorkel
#2
Very nice job! I just made one for my 05' Rubi last night. I will have pics by this weekend.
The only things that I would suggest doing to yours is to make a bracket that u-bolts to the rack for strength. If you roll yours the way it is, the snorkel is going to break the front plastic where you cut the hole. I will post my pics in a couple of days and you can see how I did mine. You also need to run all of your vent lines (differential, brakes, radiator, etc) to the snorkel. If you don't run your vent lines, the water can get into your differential, brakes, etc. and cause you problems down the road. The way you have it now is going to be fine for running in deep water but I would still re-route the vent lines.
I put a snorkel on my old Fourtrax 300 and my buddy's Foreman 450 and they both worked great. You can ride with the handlebars under water and it will keep going. It is so cool to be able to go places where nobody can follow you!
Let me know if you have any questions about the vent lines.

CrazyJames, I got a few pics of my snorkel added to my profile. I have not run my vent lines yet but I will have that done and post a few pics this weekend. Let me know after you test yours. I am sure that you will have no problems b/c it looks like you did a great job!

CrazyJames,
Did you ever make your bracket and test your snorkel?
I had mine up to the handlebars in water last weekend and it did the job without a problem. I crossed a pond and when I got to the other side, I took a look inside the airbox and it was totally dry!
I will suggest one thing that I had to do being that it is a liquid cooled motor. I put a switch between the thermostat and the cooling fan so I can turn the fan off when I enter water. Once you get into the water, the engine will cool and you don't have to worry about using the fan but you MUST remember to turn the switch back so that the thermostat can turn the fan on and off as needed. If you get into the water and the fan is running, it will burn up the fan motor b/c the fan tries to spin but it can't b/c of the water.
Let me know if you have tested yours. I hope that yours works as good as mine does.
