i was wondering if yall might think a yfz carb would work instead of the 450r carb. its just a thought though.

i am sure you could get it to work. i wonder if it is shorter than the stock 400ex carb though.... if that was the case you could move the air box forward to make it work.

 

That carb is an fcr, and I believe 39mm. I have an FCR 39mm on my 400ex. When I bought the carb there was no cable, nor directions for a cable. I looked at the carb and then a yfz 450, walked to the counter and ordered a throttle cable for the yfz. It hooked to my carb and my Honda thumb throttle like factory.

So i say yes it will work fine.

stupid question but what size is a stock 400ex carb?

 

im not really for sure........i just dont know if it will fit on the intake boot

 

99 to 03 it's 35.5, and I think it is 38 from there. The 39mm carb goes in the stock 35.5 boot. Its a tight fit but it goes.
