Default runnin from the cops

Got a story to share: this past tuesday we went out to our local riding area. We took an ice chest with WATER AND GATORADE and some shovels to make us a cool little jump....well it wasnt our land but it was a rundown place..anyway a sheriff started coming in the back entrance so we took off out the front..when we got there another sheriff was about 200 yards from that entrannce on the road..he turned around and chased me: on a grizzly, my friend: on a 400ex, and another friend: on a ttr 125....the guy on the dirtbike stopped after bout 100 yards..he gave up...and got cuffed and put in the car..me n my bud ran about 2 miles to a friends and hid out there..about 5 min later i got a call from my sister saying the cops are at my house (about 3 miles away) and theres a warrant out for my arrest and that there were 3 cops surrounding my house...so i went home because they said they would go easy on me if i did....and they were right..they gave me a criminal/trespass warning...meaning that if i get caught again i will be taken straight to juvenile...and if i would have not ran i would of only gotten a verbal warning...so the moral of my story: dont run!! but hey we had a good time while it lasted!!!!!

No next time leave your ratting buddy at home.

If my friend ratted me out and gave them my name I would have killed him.

That's a good story. I wish I could tell stories like that.

We used to run from the cops all the time in my old neighborhood back when I was a teenager and had several neighbors who also had ATV's... Not one time did they ever manage to catch us! They'd chase us because we'd ride on the streets almost everyday, playing "follow the leader" (everyone had to jump, wheelie, etc. just like the guy in front).

Yeah yeah...riding on pavement is unsafe, blah yak yak blah...but that neighborhood had several dirt backstreets and shortcuts which led to some hills behind where the houses were, so riding on the streets was the thing to do then.

Even where I live currently, one has to ride through some streets, and pass a neighborhood full of factories in order to get to the dirt trail which leads to the awesome hills (which lead to several ranches, a ranch with an MX track in Rosarito, and even the sand dunes, which are about one hour riding time through rocky mountain trails).

From time to time we even ride on the main boulevard, down to the gas station to get our bikes fueled up. This is Tijuana, Mexico though, therefore corruption works in our favor in this case...so as long as you're wearing a helmet, police will rarely give anyone in an ATV a hard time. The only bad part is ATV tires bald REAL fast when ridden on paved streets...

I'm not trying to lecture you. But just think about the fact that every time you do something like that you 1. give the rest of us and atving a bad name 2. risk injury to yourself and others 3. make the situation potentially much worse.

I'll have to agree with PAT89, when us rider's do run we risk our sport of quad/dirtbike riding. But in my oppinion in some cases it's worth it. I remember when i first got my blaster i went riden with some friend's in the neighborhood we went about 3 miles from our house to some awesome trails. Well as we were aproching the exit there were 2 state cops waiting, Being stupid i was i wiped it around and hauled back into the trails. My buddy on his banshee followed. we stayed in the trail's and camped there for a few hours and waited for the cops to leave. we then left and drove toward the exit, the cops luckly wern't there. so we pinned home well when we pulled into my drive way there sitting around were the 2 state cops. The cops let us off only because my parents did all the yellin, and my quad got takin for 2 months (by my parents). It beat's me how they ever figured out were i lived. But that tells ya that runnin isn't always the best outcome.

def. running doesn't help. we were at a sand pit by my house, and we had been kinda racng up and down the road but we thought the ppl would b cool with it.. i would. but someone called the cops and of course when he came we were right out by the road. and when we saw him we all scambled to get ready i had my hlemet and my goggles off so i wasn't getting going that fsat. but my friends were already turned around. luckily they came back. i would have gotten screwed. the cop was wicked pissed at us. he basically said if u didn't try to run i wouldn't b mad. he ended up just taking our names and ages. and told us to "rip the $hit out of the trails, not the road" my lesson learned... don't run from the cops.. unless u know u can def get away.. jk. my dad is a cop and i know.. they will most likely find u and u will get scrwed even more.
