Default Hot Rods Stroker Crank opinions...

On our last dune run, I'm pretty sure I wasted a crank oil seal on my 86 250R. I have been throwing around the idea of building a long rod motor for some time, and have now seen these cranks. Does anyone have any experience with them or opinions of them. If it happens, the motor will be a 86 bottom end, with all aftermarket clutch components, 89 update, magna-fluxed gearset, and a +4 crank, forged piston, 88 cylinder ported for the extra stroke, and an ESR head and carb (38mm A/S). Should run pretty strong, but I am concerned with the reliability and ease of building. Should I go with the +4 crank or just a standard long-rod setup...

If it were me, I'd do the stroker, but also a pro-x cylinder to make it a 370... the 88 cylinder is nothing special.
I've got a 265 long rod motor ('86 parts with the longer rod + spacer plate) It runs great, but when it needs rebuilt, it's getting big.

If your going to drop the $$$ on this motor, why not maximize your performance... I've heard good things about ESRs products.

My $.02

when i talked to EastCoastAtv they told me that they would have to port the cases to get the clearance/full effect of the 4mm stroker. i bought my buddies '89 cylinder that was ported and decked and i was just going to drop a long rod in it along with a rebuild. i was told i wouldnt really knowtice the long rod though. I was on a very tight budget so that is what fit me. my other plans would have consisted of a new top-end pipe, clutch, and CR250 igntion. my '86 was a pretty stock bike except the v-force reed valve and fmf fatty pipe and very few banshee's found it easy to beat me in hillclimbs!! i decided not to waist my money tho i bought a CR500 motor!!!!!

The 88-89 cylinder will be ported for the stroker setup basically I just want the bridged intake, my current 86 cylinder is ported for my short rod setup, where as my 87 is built for a longer rod alky setup. I do not want to do a 370 because of the reliability problems they have, and I like the smaller motor's ability to rev. Also that combination is a 350 cyl with a +5 crank, where as I am wanting to do a 68 mm bore with a +4 (76 mm) stroke to equal a 276 cc motor. I have always had and currently have two shortrod motors, plus the ported 87, but have been thinking about doing a long rod because of my non-bridged early style cylinders breaking/cracking pistons. With the intake opened up, they can really tick when the piston attempts to escape throught the intake.

Does anyone have any experience with a standard Hot Rod setup?
