hello all i just am about to finish my 88 250r, my concern is that it does not have a key. it does have a kill switch, however i would like to have a key aswell. the bike has a atc 250r wireing harness (i believe it is almost the same as the trx) my question is if i buy a key set up from ebay what one from what other model would work with my harness and where do i hook it up to my harness.

Any two wired key setup will work. where u wire it in to your harness depends on wether the key-switch is open or closed when its turned to the run position.

 

what do you mean open or closed???

if its open where do you mount it?

if its closed where do you mount it?

 

ok think of 2 peices of wire.... when u turn the key to run you are either connecting the 2 wires (closed when turned to run) or seperating the 2 wires (open when turned to run).

If the key switch is open when turned to run it can be wired right in with your kill switch. if it is closed when turned to run you can wire it in between a major ground wire (one that must be grounded for the bike to run) and the frame.
