Anybody have a 250R within 200 miles of oregon, ride dunes and what do you think of it?

ive got an '86 that i am putting a CR500 motor in... i loved my 250 motor but i want more power!!!! i love the dunes down there its about the only place i ride!!! i am proud to say i will never sell my R

 

You really might want to re-think that one.... the 500's run great! but good luck with all the vibration. The 500 motor doesn't have a counter balancer... vibration will be a significant problem.
The problems I had : Bolts vibrating out so fast I couldn't keep up...even on one ride.
Vibration cracking the frame, regardless of mounting techniques... Tried solis mounts, neoprene, rubber... No good.
Your hands go numb after a short ride.

It will haul the mail... at least for a while

Spend the $$ on a Sabre cat conversion... The kit sounds pretty impressive, and at least more reliable.

no worries im doin the project the right way... i will be geting the whole crank assembly balanced and i will be adding a car motor mount to my frame to keep vibration down. i will also be purchasing a anti-vibe steering stem. i will keep everyone updated on how it goes but i dont think there will be much vibration when im done with it!!!!
