RUBICON AT ATV PULL
#1
This past weekend there was a local small tracor pull in our area and atv's were invited to compete against other atv's. I brought my Rubicon to try it out. There were only 5 of us competing and the Rubicon lost to 2 machines, and Arctic Cat 500 auto, and a 500 Scrambler. I think a lot of the reason I did not do better was that I put it in low range in D1 and as the sled started to shift weight forward the machine did not want to donwshift. It probably would have done better if I had put it in ESP (in low range of course)and shifted the machine. It just seem to run out of power too soon. At the event we were allowed 1 pass, so I could not go again. I am not knocking my machine at all, but just passing it on to others. If they have it again I am going to try again, this time using ESP.

The Scrambler pulls quite well surprising for having no low range. Pulling has a trick to it, my friend pulled his 400 xpress did terribly and a 400 xpress is what won his category. It was his first time doing it. Polaris machines always seem to pull well. but i bet the Ruby will pull great once you do it a few times.

It just seemed suprising to me. My girl's father has a 500 Scrambler, 500 Sportsman, and a new Ruby, and after plenty of riding time on the two Polaris quads, I just wouldn't think the Scrambler would pull anything too heavy. I only got to ride the new Ruby around for a few minutes, and I was very impressed with it. It has great throttle response and tranny seems to work very well.

No there was not a Sportman 500 there. This was a small event and only 5 machines registered for the pull. 1 Arctic Cat 500 auto, 1 500 Scrambler, 1 Rubicon, 1 325 Magnum 4 X 4, and 1 older Yamaha moto 4 four wheel drive. I came in 3rd with a pull of 121 feet. The Cat made almost a full pull of 300 feet.
