Hi I Have A 04 Rancher And Giong To Change The OIl. I Had A Foreman Years Ago. But I Forgot Which Way The Filter Goes In. Thanks For Replys

 

It says clearly on the filter which side goes toward the cover (outside), and which side goes toward the engine/spring (inside). On Hondas (it's opposite on my Suzuki), the spring is on the engine side and the rubber black gasget on the filter fits onto a nipple that is in the filter cover. BE SURE YOU VERIFY THAT THE BLACK GASGET IS CORRECTLY SEATED ON THE NIPPLE before you press the cover on.
