Default NEW 250R??

Just putting my .02 in, the service honda 250r may be worth the price. they use a cr250r motor which is more potent version than the original trx250r motor, it's true that they are the same motor but due to possible overheating problem's due to the increased weight of the trx250r vs the cr250r honda decided to detune the trx250r motor by lowering the compression a little. Which mean's the servicehonda 250r is faster and quicker the a standard 250r, in fact that article in atv action actually said that the servicehonda 250r makes a yfz 450 seam slow, and here in maryland a new yfz 450 goes for about $7500 new. So by the time you put the money into the mod's to beat the 250r you could just buy one, and keep in mind for a few hundred buck's more you can order the new 250r ported, polished and properly jetted, which would make it even faster. Just my opinion, but for you 2 stroker guy's it sound's like a deal to me.

Default NEW 250R??

hey guys for the record, the 250r engine they put in the 400ex is not just a cr250 motor. One of you should try that and let me know how it works out. The gearing would be WAY off for the power to weight ratio. It is a trx250r motor they put in the 400ex frame... not the CR

Default NEW 250R??

Hate to dispute but the article say's the engine is from a 2001 cr250r motocross bike, it seam's that service honda had alot or motors left over from a few year's ago, they were making new aluminum framed cr500r bike's by putting the cr500r motor's in the lightweight aluminum cr250r chassis, because honda never made the cr500 with an aluminum frame, which is why they had the cr250r motor's laying around. Hope this clarify's the issue a bit.

Default NEW 250R??

no, its a CR250 Engine. They used special mounts and stuff so it doesnt viabrate bad since it has no counterbalencer. its a CR250 engine not a trx250. the CR250 engine with the Included FMF exhaust makes almost 50hp at the wheels. thats ALOT faster then the old stock 250R.

CR 250 and CR 250r are the same thing. But tour right it's wicked fast , at least that's what they say.

if yall think that cr250r motor in a 400ex frame would be fast, think about the new cr500r motor in a 450r frame that i think would be a bada$$ bike thats my 2 cents

That would be a great idea since service honda is still making the cr500af for open class racing, it probably wouldn't be to much trouble to stuff a cr500 motor in there. Bet it would sell like hotcake's.
