New Foreman S Break-in questions

OK, I changed my oil after the first 50 miles / 10 hours on my 2005 Foreman S. Is there anything else I need to do at this point?. Now I have 100 miles and about 20 hours on it. I checked the air filter because I was riding on dusty trails and it looked fine. The manual says check the valve clearance at 600 miles. I plan on taking it to the dealer for that one. Does anyone use the AMSoil synthetic motorcycle oil? Changing the oil is messy without taking off the skid plate. Speaking of skid plates, I was thinking about putting on something a little more heavy duty and maybe upgrading the CV joint covers. Any suggestions? I also dented the plastic bumper that is not steel reinforced. This is the only design flaw I can see so far. The bike has been great so far, I so far have not been able get it stuck. It will zip up steep inclines in 2nd gear. I am happy with it so far, I just want to make it last. Thanks!

You changed the oil filter too, didnt you?
Ive used the amsoil before, and its very good oil. You might want to do the valve check yourself, its not that difficult.
You cant always tell if the air filter is dirty or not, by looking. The dirt is trapped inside the foam, not on the surface. If you have 20 hours of dusty riding on it, it needs to be cleaned and reoiled.
Just look over the fasteners, and snug up any that are loose, and its good to go.

As for the skid plate making for messy oil changes, I cut a plastic junnel that fits into the oil drain hole in the skid. I just leave it in there all the time. Makes the process a lot less messy, and you don't have to remove the skid every time.
If your engine is well broken in, it is ok to switch to a synthetic oil. I would highly recommend Maxima Extra oil. http://www.maximausa.com/ It is an ester synthetic, and has some advantages over a PAO synthetic like Amsoil or Mobil 1. http://www.maximausa.com/technical/l...beNews2002.pdf
This is a Foreman 500? Not the old 450?
