I just purchased a trx 400ex and want to know what the difference is between it and a 400ex.....nobody can seem to give me an answer. My manual lists them as two seperate bikes. Iam guessing its a dumb as a color difference.

 

One has 450R plastic and reverse , I think , Please correct me if iam wrong , or you can go to honda.com and find out what the differences are

 

I am not sure when they changed the name but the big change was between 04 and 05. The '05's have new plastic and reverse. There has been some sprocket changing but besides the listed stuff no real changes.

 

trx400ex= 05 and 06 models, trx450r nosepiece, and they add reverse
400ex=04 and below, original nose, no reverse, 11 pounds lighter

 

In my manual, as my 2002 400, it says TRX400EX
