400EX (questions)

Again hetfield inn,
You need to get out of straight line mode. If you want to be fastest in the straight line dollar for dollar, the Banshee is the way.
Those of us that ride 400EX's are interested in going fast elsewhere.
Raptor's have not proven themselves in MX racing or Woods racing and are being beat by stock 400's. Chassis geometry of the 400EX/250R still rules for now.

"Why don't you just get a Raptor"
Im not interseted in the Raptor + it cost to much, I can get all these mods for a resonable price, and dont go telling me I cant
I want a 400EX, not a Raptor or a Banshee. Im not looking to beat every kid in the block, drag racing isnt what im after.

I have had my 400EX for about 5 months now. Up to now I have added a FMF PowercoreIV pipe with spark arrestor (to please MR.RANGER), a Dynojet jet kit, and a 14tooth front sprocket. I mainly do trails with hillclimbs and technical sections with some hardpack roads with big jumps. The FMF pipe was unbelieveably expensive and it made only a small difference. The main difference in the pipe is its good looks and great exhaust note. I rejetted shortly after adding the pipe and once again picked up a little more although I did lose a little gas mileage. The last thing I did is add a 14 tooth front sprocket. I proabably got the most difference from this. In the trails that I ride I never got into 5th and rarely in 4th gear. So I figured I would use my gearbox a little better and go with the 14 tooth. This all depends on what speeds you normally ride at. If you want to improve hillclimbing but lose a little top end drop a tooth. I dont know why people say the stock tires suck. I havent had a problem. They grip as good as I care for. I am going to add the 22" Spidertracs soon though cause they look sweet and have great traction. These are my opinions based on my expierence. Use them as you wish.
