2 weekends ago my front right hand shock on my 97 300ex broke!!!!!It broke right at the bottom where it bolts on to the a-arm. We had to ride it home about 4 miles through valley's and creeks.It was very scary I was thinking I was going to break something else.Any way we went home and I got my stock 250r shock and found that it was way to long.So we removed the spring from the ex shock.We removed the spring from the r shock and swapped em we had to make an aluminium spacer to make up the difference.It worked alright.It bottoms alot.I juts jump more careful now.

NoI never broke a shock. But I did break the frame where the shock hooks up to. If you need a shock I have one off my 250x that is still good you can have for $25.00.

 

yeah, A buddy of mine broke his on a 250x at the same spot you said. so I took it to the dealer and told them it was off of my new 300ex. this was back in late 95

 

the thing was weren't jumping when it broke.I was driving down a dam by a lake and it juts broke I thought my front tire went in a hole or something.

same thing happened to my 300 in the same place, and i wasn't jumping at the time either. It had been leaking from there for a couple weeks though.

 

It could have broke most of the way from jumping and finally cracked the rest of the way
