Default "POLL" Whats the Best utility ATV out there?!

Well I have the 2 quads below. But my favorite is the KQ. 35 gears, locking diff, select 2wd,4wd, the independent suspension works better on the road and it has a solid feel on the road or trials. I wish I had another one just like my first.

But NOT in utility mode I like the rancher, peppier on the trails, more power and a Warn 424 to play in 2wd. But the forementioned things are not required for utility work. A good utility quad doesn't need to go 60 mph, that would put it in the sport/utility class IMO.

They make Piston's and Rings for the NEW Rubicons and Rincon.

What in the world is that supposed to mean? Honestly, is that your idea of an argument?

Obviously they make pistons and rings for NEW Rubicons and Rincons.
Of course they make seals and motor bearings for NEW Rubicons and Rincons.

They have to make the parts in order to build the machines, so obviously they will stock spare parts in their warehouses. Honda provides new replacement parts for every model they make, current or not. Do you expect them to not make replacement parts for their ATV's?

If you are talking about the aftermarket, so what? I really don't get this poor argument of yours.

Now Now ATVtech1, did I hit a nerve. If you did not understand that I meant aftermarket, well no wonder you think Honda is the end all and be all. ALL MACHINES BREAK DOWN.
MAN MADE, MAN BROKEN, MAN FIX.

IF you are in personal attacks, so be it. YOU have not proved anything about Honda's reliability.
People usually resort to personal attacks when they succumb to the truth... that they where wrong, but to immature to admit it.

Honda's reliability has not changed over the years. They have been pretty darn good.
However, the other atv manufactures reliability have vastly improved.

HOWDY FOLKS.
yes im a farmer, yes i chase cows now n' then,
but i also ride with friends trailriding all over the place,
im a big guy, 6'2' 175 pounds, and i ride a rancher 350 4x4 .. the 05 model with ES ..
problems , with my bike over the last past year.....'NONE'
silly thing never quits, starts at just thinking of hitting the button. it'll go anywhere i wants to go,
and its a blast to ride.
my friends have all kinds of brands they ride, some good, some not so good, but everybody in our group wishes now they'ed of bought the rancher 1st,
my wife loves it, the neighbors kids love it, everyone thinks its simple and easy to ride,
i think honda did a great job on this bike, its not the fastest, or the most tricked out, but shes a good solid workhorse, thats pure fun to ride.
and for some reason, everyone loves the yellow color. i do too, lol !! i can find it in the deer woods !!!!

I don't know how to get this across to you. If the drum brakes stay dry, they will last virtually forever. MUCH longer than discs at any rate.
If you never use it and leave it in the garage, it'll never get wet.

Pray4a650, I have one question for you. Do you work at a multi brand dealership? A simple yes or no will do.

The reason I ask is that I, like Lighthouse, work at a mutli brand dealership. The fact is that Honda is the brand that breaks down the least. Period. If you don't work at a multi brand dealership, how can you even speak about other brands being equal or better than Honda in terms of reliability? You can't because you don't have the experience to make such a statement.

Does Honda break down? Of course. But they've been breaking down since 1969, when they introduced their first ATC90. Honda's have always had terrible drum brakes (until this year), yet people still considered Honda to be the most reliable. Honda has always had bearings that don't last very long, yet people still considered Honda to be the most reliable. The reason is that Honda is the most reliable. They may have no brakes and wobbly wheel bearings, but they will get you home.

You own a Prairie 650, so tell me. How many swingarm bearings have you replaced. How many diff seals and engine seals have you replaced? How many belts have you gone through? How many times have you adjusted the belt deflection on your CVT? How many times has a carb inlet needle let gas overflow into the engine? How much resale value do you expect out of your Prairie? Before answering these questions, keep in mind that I am friends with the local Kawasaki dealer and know all about them.

Listen, you are obviously one of those people that hates Honda. It's obvious with the tone of your posts. Here's the real deal. Honda sells more ATV's in one week than Kawasaki sells in two months. Kawasaki isn't really a viable player in terms of overall sales and I doubt that Honda has any desire to compete with a company that is so far down the line. You can say that people are just buying Honda because of the name, but you know that isn't the case. Honda has been behind in features for years and still are #1 in sales. Doesn't that tell you something? Honda is the leading ATV manufacturer, and it will stay that way for quite a while.
Atvtech, I follow your Posts In a few different forums... And for the most part you seem Knowledgable and Unbiased..
However, the above statements are brought into alot of your conversations.. You work at a multi-brand dealership.
regardless of what Brands are sold and Repairs made, you need to keep in mind that those are YOUR experiences.
My experience has been , its pretty much a shot in the dark no matter what you ride now days. I base this on 31 years of riding experience on everything out there except AC..
A good friend is partsman at a dealership I frequent ( I get discounts on parts for My KTMS)
This dealership sells Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha, as well as KTM and Aprilla Bikes.
Your post made me ask him, truly what Brand do they see the most of for warranty work?
His answer is not suprising, It depends on the week.. One week May be 10 suzukis, 3 Hondas and 1 yamaha, the next week 8 yamahas 12 hondas and 1 suzuki, and on it goes.. (these are all fictional numbers of course.)
The Point being simply that Your experience , nor mine, dictates what machine has the best or worst reliability record.
I can Praise Honda, ( and I am not bashing them) , yet 2 houses down from me, A neighbor wants to get rid of an 03 450 foreman becuase of front end problems and leaky rear brakes.. You could have 10 hondas around you and none of them need a thing while the neighbor with a Suzuki Vinson has had his last straw.
Working at a delaership does give you first hand knowledge and insight, but only for a very, Very small service area, allowing for all the riders out there.

My uncle is a farmer, he bought a 1998 Honda Foreman 450 ES, Full Time 4x4, in august of '97, thats coming up on being 10 years old! As redgoblin said, He does not take it through mud or water, (although i do for him everyonce odd once in a while when we visit) and guess what, absolutely nothing has broken. He hasnt even taken it to basic maitanance once, just changed the oil himself.
