hello all. i just bought a 99 400ex with wb e series, full skids, nerf bars. this may sound retarted, but i am new to this machine, so where do i put oil in and is there a certain kind of oil anyone reccomends. (i just dont see a oil fill on the case.) do i put it in the oil tank (i think?)up front? or is there an oil fill on the case somewhere?

There are two places to drain. One is the tank out in front (bolt on the bottom), and the other is the crank case (bolt on the left side just below the shift lever). And, there is an oil filter as well. You fill oil at the tank (about 2 quarts), start it up, then check it again and top it up.

Do a search on oils. There are lots of posts, and a hundred different opinions. Hello, I use Klotz Oils and never blown one up yet, I have blown up my 440ex 3 times!!!! if you want the most from your machine, run 20w50 klotz, also purchase the K@n powerlid and filter, this will give you the max from your machine, if you more questions, feel free to e-mail me, we build 60hp! 440's
