Hey, my buddie had a DS (he didn't keep it very long though!), and we use to trade off bikes all the time. The DS has comparable compression braking to any other manual clutch bike! If your bike is stalling on you so easily (not sure what that has to do with compression braking???), then you have other problems going on.

You guys will change your minds about how good the Rincon is when you have to pay about $3000 for trans repairs.

This is by far the worst mistake Honda has ever sold.

They are expensive, underpowered and cost a fortune to maintain.

What a load of BS!

You have no idea what you're talking about. You would be wise to keep quiet until you learn about the Rincon and the way it's built.

Even a car transmission doesn't cost 3K to rebuild at least not in my experiences. I've spent many hours researching different message boards and have yet to come across a thread that detailed any transmission problems. IMO and I think this pertains to all brands and thats if you take care of what you buy and apply proper maintenance then you shouldn't have any major problems. I don't even know how many different vehicles I've owned but only a very few have ever left me stranded and most of the time it was my own fault. You can't abuse these things.

One day you will see.

I don't know about some of you but those of us that work for a living can't afford to have $3000 repair bills.

Everything costs more on quads than on cars.

Also there are plenty of things that happen in the real world that you don't read on message boards.

Which day will that be?

I work for a living. Matter of fact, I work at a Honda dealership.

Please teach me about the Rincon as I am obviously clueless. What tranny repair costs $3000?

Apparently you are clueless or you would know about the serious and very expensive problems with this trans.

Ask around. You may learn something.

At one time Honda made the most reliable quads that money could buy.

The Rincon is not in that class.

Sure. I guess I am clueless.

Nevermind the fact that I actually work at a dealership that sells Honda ATV's, including the Rincon.

The only "problem" with the Rincon tranny has been faulty oil pump o-rings on 03 and early 04 models. Very simple problem and very simple fix. Honda even paid for the faulty o-rings regardless of the warranty situation. What more can you ask from them?

I am a member of all the major ATV forums on the internet and do a lot of reading about every make and model of ATV. I am also in close contact with many, many Honda dealers. I have not heard of, or encountered any tranny problems other than the aforementioned oil pump o-rings.

You are obviously a Rincon tranny expert. Please enlighten me on the many problems people have been having with the Rincon tranny.

While you're at it, why not explain how a Rincon tranny repair costs $3000.

I'm serious. You need to provide some solid proof if you're going to make these kinds of claims.

Again, you are obviously a Rincon tranny expert. Please help a clueless Honda mechanic such as myself...

Maybe he can provide us with some links to some forums where people are talking about these problems? Most of the dealers here charge about the same labor rate as vehicle repair shops, so maybe the parts are a little more but my guess is it takes less labor hours to repair an ATV tranny then a car or truck.

A lot of times people are afraid or leary of something new or different then they are used to. Theres a saying "if you always do what you always did you'll always get what you always got" Doesn't hurt to be innovative or different.
