What would be a good mud tire to put on my Recon without going too big? It looks to me like 25" tires would rub the fenders. That eliminates alot of the popular tires like Vamps and Blackwaters.

The Goodyear stock tires that Honda put on the Recon are not that great of a mud tire. They should have put Titan 489's on as stock tires. My wifes trailboss came stock with the 489's. I am really impressed with the mud traction they provide. Anyway, go to www.treadepot.com . They have a great selection of mud tires and it appears they have some in the 24 inch size. Hope this helps.

 

We put Sur Traks on our recon & it makes a huge difference. The only problem is they about 1/8 to 1/4 inch shorter than the oem tires. The tractions makes up for this. Also, if you reverse the directions you can run them in snow, haven't tried that yet.

 

My assistant has Kenda Bearclaws on hers. She liked the low price and they are riding on hardpack great, due to the center tread and pull great in the mud. Just another option.

 

I noticed the same thing as snowshark did with his sur tracks they are just a little bit smaller than the oem but the work great.
When mine go bad I will most likely buy the sur tracks again.

The Blackwaters come in 22x12.5x9 which would be same height and rim diameter you have now but just 2.5 inches wider. I am thinking about getting them for my Recon.

 

Thanks for all the replys. I'll probably go with either Sur Traks or Blackwaters. Hondapride, how much of a performance gain did you get out of the exhaust and carb mods?
