Default 2005 rubicon winch istallation

Can someone help me out with a couple questions I have on installing a winch on my 2005 rubicon? will I need to install a larger battery or will the stock battery do the job? Are there any fuses that will need upgraded to a higher amper. I have not ordered the winch yet but I am looking at putting a warn 2.5 ci on the machine. I think this should be plenty of winch for a 600lb machine.Has anyone installed a warn winch on there rubi ? and if so was there any cutting of the front skid plate to get it into place. It would be great if someone could post a photo of a 2005 rubicon with a winch installed.

Thanks, mark

Just picked up an 05 Rub yesterday with a 2.5 Warn and no one said anything about needing a diffrent battery. I had the dealership to install but it looks pretty simple to me. Seems running the wires will take the most time due to the tight space from front to rear. I'll take some pictures as soon as I can and post. If I had to do it over I'd bought mine on-line and installed myself. Mounting the winch base looks simple to me and I didnt notice any trimming on the skid plate.

Rogan thanks for the fast reply. I found a great picture of the mounted winch on the warn web site and it looks good on the machine. If you take some photos of the rocker switch and the battery area that would help me out.

Well I ordered my new winch today. I ended up going with the warn 2.5 ce. this winch has a mechanical break system so it cost alittle more than the ci modle but it is whats recommended for use with a snow plow so I'll be ready if I ever put one on.

I installed a Warn 2.5 ci on my 05 rubi. one ov the biggest pains in running the wires also removing all of the front skid plates. sorry i don't have any pics yet but a look at rogans will give you a good idea. Mine is similar except i mounted the control unit inside the storage area for more protection from water. then i drilled about a 1" hole directly from there to behind the battery to run the power cables then siliconed the hloes for a water tight fit. yes it does take up a lot of room in the storage bin but the only thing i geep in there is a roll of T.P.

Hey Rogan thanks for the photos. I got my winch today and had it on in about an hour ,next comes the fun part of wiring it up. It sure looks good on the machine. Hope to try it out at deer camp this year to host some deer up on the buck pole. Hey dodge4ever I was surprised on how much of the front end that I had to remove too. Not sure where I'll mount the control unit yet I got to look it over first to see what I can come up with. Thankyou both for the help.
